The exhibition, open in Cedegolo from June 13 to October 25, 2026, presents the Adamello Glacier through the photographs of Michele Gusmeri.

Glaciers, due to climatic and environmental variations, are subject to rapid collapse whose effects are not yet entirely predictable. In this context, the exhibition The Last Days. The Adamello Glacier in Michele Gusmeri's photographs was born.
On display are thirty-three photographic shots, the result of Michele Gusmeri's artistic and at the same time documentary vision, which capture the dramatic retreat and ephemeral beauty of the largest concentration of ice in the Italian Alps. A powerful visual narrative that testifies to the urgency of the environmental challenge, and a touching portrait that shows the glacier at this specific moment: its last days.
The idea of photographing the glacier with the demanding technique of large-format analog photography is challenging and – in the era of social platforms – almost provocative. The thought that lenses born from artisan hands between the mid-nineteenth and early twentieth centuries can today bear witness to such an epochal moment makes one reflect on the rapidity of the ongoing change: what seemed eternal a few centuries ago, today appears on the inevitable accelerated descent of a steep inclined plane. The result visually represents what is today one of the most important challenges for humankind: the necessity to preserve, for future generations, the high-altitude regions that hold an essential part of the planet's water reserves.

Starting from the relationship between humankind and nature, the museum offers an experience that intertwines environmental reflection, scientific dissemination, and territorial discovery. At the heart of the activities is the theme of water, a fundamental resource for life and ecosystems, also referenced in Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato si’.

The museum's itinerary allows visitors to explore the functioning of hydroelectric energy and the natural water cycle, while also offering insight into the industrial history of Valle Camonica and environmental transformations linked to the climate crisis. Special attention is given to the Presena-Adamello glacier, a central element for understanding the origins of the area's hydroelectric development.

A day among museum, nature, and workshops

The "A Day at the Museum" program is structured into five parts:

• Guided tour “Hydroelectric 360°”, with multimedia and interactive installations and, from 2026, a virtual reality experience dedicated to the Pantano d’Avio hydroelectric plant;
• Workshop “The Alpine Glaciers”, dedicated to the history and life of glaciers, with a focus on the Adamello glacier;
• Walk from the museum to the Ex Vasca SEB Thematic Park in Novelle di Sellero;
• Picnic lunch in the park, with the option to use the museum's indoor spaces in case of bad weather;
• Visit to the Ex Vasca SEB Thematic Park, to explore the hydroelectric energy production cycle through the spaces that powered the power station now home to MUSIL.

The experience concludes with a moment of free play within the park.

On the occasion of the National Made in Italy Day 2026, the Museum of Industry and Labor of Brescia promotes the meeting entitled “The thread of a story. The initiatives take place between March 20 and 24, 2026 and focus on the role of water resources in industrial history and contemporary environmental challenges.

On Friday, March 20, 2026, the MUSIL – Valle Camonica Hydroelectric Energy Museum (at via Roma n.48 in Cedegolo) offers the activity “Glaciers and Climate Change”, scheduled from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The initiative includes a guided tour and thematic workshops organized by Acque Bresciane, dedicated to the theme of glaciers and the effects of climate change.

On March 19 and 24, 2026, at the AEM Foundation (Piazza Po 3, Milan), the “Debate: The Power of Water” will take place, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. This initiative is part of the annual collaborations with Fondazione ISEC and the Po Valley Water Routes project. Two classes will debate different positions regarding the use of water resources, through an educational debate-based format.

On Monday, March 23, 2026, the LIUC – Cattaneo University will host the educational experience “Waterways, Industrial Ways”, aimed at schools. The activity combines introductory classroom sessions with field experiences, discovering the places and traces of local industrialization, highlighting the role played by water in the productive development of the territory.

The program concludes on Sunday, March 22, 2026 with a guided tour of the Crespi d’Adda workers' village, a UNESCO site. The visit, scheduled for 4:00 PM at Corso Manzoni 18, will allow participants to discover the importance of water in the factory, homes, and public structures of the industrial village. The cost of the visit is 8 euros, with free admission for children up to 6 years old and people with disabilities.

From March 20th to April 10th, 2026, some prints and an unreleased video from the “Water and Ice” series by artist Pietro Gardoni will be exhibited at the entrance of Manerbio hospital.

Exhibition Abstract

"Water and Ice" is a project by artist Pietro Gardoni, started in the early months of 2021 and developed over the years as a constantly evolving visual research.

Physically entering the frozen streams and rivers of the Alpine arc with his video camera, the artist explores these extreme environments in search of small fragments of landscape. The goal is not to document the territory, but to isolate minimal details — water movements, ice surfaces, reflections, and transparencies — transforming them into images of strong aesthetic value. Each shot thus becomes a kind of moving painting, in which water emerges as an essential symbol of life and hope.

The first video in the series was presented in 2023 at Columbia University in New York during the World Water Film Festival. In the same year, the project was presented at MUSE – Trento Science Museum during World Water Day.

In the summer of 2023, an installation consisting of three videos, with a soundtrack by Silvio Uboldi, was presented at Musil – Hydroelectric Energy Museum in Cedegolo. Subsequently, the project became part of the museum's permanent exhibition, in the Sala delle Sfere (Hall of Spheres) which introduces the visit, with a version accompanied by a soundtrack by Luca Formentini.

In 2024, one of the works from the series was projected onto a snow wall in Edmonton, Canada, and subsequently presented in France and the United Kingdom.

The project, which has become one of the cardinal points of the artist's research, is still ongoing and will continue to develop through new soundtracks, further installation forms, and a series of limited edition artist's books.

These images, filmed last winter, are now exhibited at the entrance of Manerbio hospital with the hope that they can offer patients and visitors a small sign of hope.

Statement from the General Director of ASST Garda

Manerbio Hospital and the Mella river share a silent but profound history, made of geographical and symbolic proximity. The Mella, with its continuous flow, has always represented a vital resource for the surrounding territory.

Similarly, the hospital is configured as a place of care, where life is protected, regenerated, and supported every day.

Water therefore becomes a metaphor for life, but also for collective responsibility.

Like flowing water, medicine is also based on a principle of continuity: intervening, rebalancing, restoring well-being.

Water thus becomes a symbolic element that unites nature and science. It evokes

purification, rebirth, but also responsibility. Water today in all its sources is to

be considered a limited and precious resource and challenges the balance of entire territories, just as human health can be compromised if not carefully protected.

Within an exhibition dedicated to water, an essential symbol of life and hope, this connection takes on an even more significant value.

After a brief presentation of the work done, the third-grade middle school class of the "Zendrini" Comprehensive Institute of Cedegolo will be able to try out the museum's viewers and virtually visit the Pantano d'Avio plant.

The initiative is carried out thanks to the contribution of Enel.

The initiative, which will be held Monday, January 19, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Luigi Micheletti Foundation (in via Cairoli 9, Brescia), is aimed at teachers and interested citizens.

The meeting aims to deepen the system of forced labor imposed by Nazifascism during World War II, highlighting the central role of forced labor in the war economy and in the political and ideological mechanisms of “total war”. Particular attention will be dedicated to the experience of deportation and resistance in the province of Brescia, from which numerous civilians destined for forced labor in Germany were transferred.

From a didactic perspective, the topic offers starting points for addressing with students the relationship between war, industry, and state violence, stimulating reflections on human rights, dehumanization processes, and the value of democracy.

ISEC Foundation participates in the XXIV Week of Business Culture with a meeting dedicated to the theme of enhancing archives and museum spaces, presenting the new permanent exhibition project currently under development at its headquarters.

The event, titled “Narrating Business, Narrating Work”, will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Fondazione Corrente, in via Carlo Porta 5 in Milan.

The exhibition project originates from a design workshop curated by the NABA Specialist Degree in Interior Design, with the aim of rethinking the spaces and offering a new way of narrating the history of business and work through archive materials and contemporary narrative tools. During the meeting, those in charge will illustrate the guidelines and conceptual framework of the future exhibition, comparing it with two significant museum experiences: the Brescia Labour Museum and the SAME Company Museum.

The initiative will be introduced by Giorgio Bigatti of the ISEC Foundation. This will be followed by the project presentation by Paolo Giacomazzi, NABA lecturer, and Valentina Dalla Costa, Course Leader of the Specialist Degrees in Interior Design, Product and Service Design and Social Design. The testimonials of the museum experiences will be entrusted to Primo Ferrari (SAME Museum in Treviglio) and to René Capovin (Museum of Industry and Labour in Brescia).

The meeting is organized in collaboration with NABA – New Academy of Fine Arts.

The conferences were organized in collaboration with the University of Ferrara (Department of Humanities) and with the patronage of the “Robert-Musil-Institut für Literaturforschung” of Klagenfurt, the Italian Institute of Germanic Studies, the Austrian Cultural Forum (of Milan and Rome), the Italian Association of German Studies, the Catholic University of Milan, Brescia campus.

The first meeting dates back to September 30, 2022, the year marking the eightieth anniversary of Robert Musil's death. This event focused on the writer's passage through Italy, following some particularly significant stages: the area between South Tyrol, Trentino, and the Isonzo during the First World War; the city of Rome, to which his wife Martha Heimann was linked and which represents the setting for several writings; and finally Edolo, in Val Camonica, precisely where the hydroelectric energy museum that hosted the first conference is located. In these surroundings, the writer stayed for several weeks during his dramatic exile journey that would take him to Switzerland on September 2, 1938.

The second meeting, held at the Iron Museum in Brescia in May 2024, instead focused on the theme of science and technology, always in continuity with the museum's mission. Specifically, the conference concentrated on the relationship between science and society, and on the codes of scientific knowledge. This is, as is known, a fundamental aspect of Musil's literature, a “mathematical man” who first graduated in mechanical engineering from the Brno University of Technology and then dedicated himself to philosophy, discussing a thesis on the theories of physicist Ernst Mach and particularly on his analyses of sensations.

The two Brescia conferences were organized and conceived under the banner of interdisciplinarity and brought together Germanists, philosophers, historians of science, and essayists from Italy and Austria. As emerges from the pages of the work, each contribution analyzed a different aspect, shedding new light on an author with a very complex and varied physiognomy.

The journal will be presented in Rome, on October 29, at the Moby Dick cultural center, in the presence of the two curators and two authors, Prof. Marina Freschi and Prof. Franz Haas.

The online vote awarded: "Heidi Bjørgan: Meet the Ceramicist Who Was Meant to Be a Footballer", by Frode Bakken from the Bergen Art Museum (Norway).

The International Jury granted a special mention to "Gilgamesh", by Hossein Moradizadeh (Iran) for the aesthetic quality of the work. 

The eleventh winner of Museums in Short is the video "Living in a digital world", by Yiotis Vrantzas, for the Noesis Science Centre & Technology Museum in Thessaloniki (Greece). The Jury's motivations are as follows:

"We all live in a digital world, we know that, but what does this expression truly mean? Yiotis Vrantzas and NOESIS - Science Centre & Technology Museum in Thessaloniki offer a powerful representation of human life in a world governed by "0" and "1". Love, art, dreams, religion are seen in their contemporary and digital version: neither apology nor condemnation, this work appears as a serious and poetic reflection on the impact of information and communication technologies on people's daily lives. In this ultra-fast world, the pace is slow; in an era of vivid colors, the animation is black and white - in short, what is proposed is a counter-story of our time, raising questions through highly evocative images".

The winner receives a trophy and an invitation to Best in Heritage 2026, the international event that annually gathers all winners of awards related to museums and cultural heritage. 

The 2026 edition of the Award was promoted by MUSIL in collaboration with EMA – European Museum and FSK - Forum of Slavic Cultures, with the contribution of Regione Lombardia.

"Nimble fingers", by Parsifal Reparato, tells the story of migrant women workers in the factories of the world's largest electronics brands in Vietnam. For a year, the anthropologist filmmaker lived in Vietnam, between the outskirts of Hanoi and a remote Muong village in the Northern highlands of the country, where he managed to live with this community and tell their conditions, never before told through audiovisual means. This research recently led to the creation of the new film SHE, which just had its world premiere in Locarno and will be selected in several international festivals in the coming months.

"Banzavóis" by Lorenzo Casali, winner of the 2024 'Roberto Gavioli' National Film Competition, recounts the radical transformation process of the former Isotta Fraschini industrial area in Saronno, twenty kilometers from Milan. The director followed the work for two years, creating a narrative that is a kaleidoscopic journey into the history of the site, abandoned for 30 years. In Banzavóis, the factory becomes a space for a narrative where memory of work, anti-fascism, conflict, and decommissioning intertwine.
The film's title takes up a term coined by Carlo Emilio Gadda, in assonance with "mais" (corn), to refer to maize, a symbol of Lombard agricultural production.

An aperitif with the author and Silvio Grasselli, film critic and President of the Competition Jury, will follow.

A playful lesson for adults and children starting from a question: can we always trust what we see? From optical illusions the easy answer.

In the second part, to be carried out strictly in the dark, with numerous experiments and demonstrations, we will talk about the light spectrum: from infrared, to visible light, up to ultraviolet. And starting from the latter, we will focus on a natural phenomenon that we experience every day, but rarely notice: fluorescence.

The Project, consistent with the “Three-Year Program for Culture 2023 - 2025” and included in the Cultural Olympiad program of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, foresees the implementation of actions aimed at promoting the Olympic territories and the legacy of the Olympics, and accompanying Lombard citizens and local institutions on a path towards the Games in an integrated perspective among various policies: sport, culture, tourism, school.

The events aim to spread “sports and Olympic culture for all” with Olympic Projections and Images, making the spirit of Olympism accessible to the largest possible number of people, through the involvement of local institutional and associative, cultural, and sports fabric.

Centopercento Teatro presents a theatre and aerial acrobatics show in which a child named Biagio divides himself into three and tries to confront his mythical and revolutionary older brother Cosimo, who had decided never to set foot on the ground again.

“I will not come down anymore!” thus, from the branch of an oak tree, a rebellious twelve-year-old declared to his eight-year-old little brother: the promise never to touch the ground again and to live forever in the trees. From here (and from a plate full of snails) begin the adventures of the two: the elder jumping from trunk to trunk, from canopy to canopy, the younger following his brother's adventures, now worried, now excited, now scared, but always attracted by a bond that the distance between the earth and the highest leaf cannot break.

The protagonist of the show is the younger brother of the rebellious Cosimo; the little Biagio from Calvino's novel, witness and narrator of the elder's actions, for the occasion, becomes three, multiplying into the three actresses and acrobats on stage. In this adaptation, they will immediately be put to the test, still twelve years old: Cosimo, without looking back, has just flown away, clinging to a hot air balloon, leaving his little brother alone for the first time, with no one to chase and no “hero” whose deeds to narrate. Here, with this abandonment, the image of a brother who has absorbed everyone's attention until now (including Biagio's) is questioned and, perhaps, the possibility of discovering something new, turning one's eyes towards oneself.

"It is common belief that video games and home consoles were born in the United States, then exploded thanks to the Japanese industry, and that European countries were only consumers of video games. But is that really so? At the beginning of the industry's adventure, Europe was fertile ground for the first innovative productions. Italy, in particular, thanks to affordable labor and good skills in assembling electrical circuits, was at the forefront of producing the first consoles. Seleco, Reel, Polistil, Cabel Electronic, Breton, Cieffe, and Silcom are just some of the Italian manufacturers of consoles and electronic devices for entertainment."

Valle Camonica Hydroelectric Power Museum - July 25, 8:30 PM 

MUSIL dedicates an evening to the history of Olivetti, the Ivrea-based company that deeply marked the Italian industrial and cultural twentieth century, thanks above all to the ideas of Adriano Olivetti. The narrative will retrace the origins of the company, founded by Camillo Olivetti in 1908 as the first national typewriter factory. It is a successful enterprise that his son Adriano, starting from the 1930s, would lead to even more prestigious achievements, playing a pioneering role on a global scale in a decisive sector, that of electronic and information technology.

The museum's stage will feature a Programma 101, the tabletop programmable computer created in 1965: the role of Olivetti and Ivrea in the history of 20th-century IT will be at the center of the story told by Lorenzo Airoldi, curator of the corporate retrocomputing museum set up at Magnetic Media Network SpA. This technological history will run in parallel with the biography of Adriano Olivetti and his political and cultural visions, recounted by MUSIL director, René Capovin.

With this event, MUSIL intends to contribute to moving beyond the “Olivetti myth,” bringing to the forefront the historical reality of a great company and a significant figure of the Italian twentieth century: innovations and successes, but also unfinished projects, difficulties, conflicts. 

The initiative is part of the collaboration protocol that unites MUSIL and MMN – Bechtle Group, the company from Trezzo d'Adda with which MUSIL has already worked on the exhibition: “Computer Stories (https://www.computerstories.it/).

The event confirms the centrality of the history and heritage of ICT technologies in MUSIL's cultural activities.

A playful lesson for adults and children starting from a question: can we always trust what we see? From optical illusions, the easy answer.

In the second part, to be carried out strictly in the dark, with numerous experiments and demonstrations, the light spectrum will be discussed: from infrared, to visible light, up to ultraviolet. And starting from the latter, we will focus on a natural phenomenon that we experience every day, but which we rarely notice: fluorescence.

Electronics and video games are at the heart of MUSIL Cedegolo's 2025 summer: from July 11, thanks to the collaboration with the Retrocampus Association, visitors can try their hand at Commodore 64, Amiga, and vintage consoles, running glorious vintage video games (from Pong to Pac-Mac, from Space Invaders to Super Mario).

Carlo Santagostino (July 11) and Andrea Contato (August 1), both well-known popularizers and experts from Retrocampus, will delve into the history of video games, covering both global and Italian history. On July 25, the focus will broaden to the history of computing with an evening dedicated to the history of Olivetti, featuring stories, images, and original artifacts curated by René Capovin (MUSIL director) and Lorenzo Airoldi (M’useum - MMN). 

Science popularization will begin on July 19 with an evening dedicated to experiments and curiosities about optical effects, fluorescence, and related topics, curated by Fabio Ghidini (MUSIL). 

August 8 will be dedicated to Nikola Tesla, first with a historical and scientific overview of one of the greatest geniuses of the twentieth century curated by Andrea Zamboni (MUSIL educational manager), and then, from 8:30 PM, with the screening of the film “L’albero di Tesla” (Tesla's Tree): this is the story of an imaginary stay in Italy by the great scientist, with the presence of director Giorgio Magarò and actors Luigi Cori and Inga Babenko. On August 10 at 8:30 PM, there will be the now traditional night of San Lorenzo at the telescope, again with Prof. Andrea Zamboni.

The summer will conclude in style with the Carosello Weekend (August 16 and 17, non-stop viewing of dozens of Caroselli from the MUSIL archive) and with the show
“My brother on the trees” by Centopercento Teatro – a story of different brothers, blending theater and aerial acrobatics. 

In the suggestive underground of the museum, the exhibition will be visible: “AIPAI Photo Exhibition 24/25 - Geometries of Aridity and other visions”, 40 shots that tell the story of Italian industrial heritage thanks to the national review promoted by AIPAI. Particular space is given to the latest winner of the competition, Erica La Placa, for the project “Geometries of Aridity: interrupted visions”: the photographs explore the unfinished Blufi dam and the Sicilian landscape marked by drought.

The film traces the history of water sites in the Mompiano and Costalunga areas: the mills, the old washhouses, the paper mill, and the lost hammer mill of Mompiano.

The museum is located in a forge with an attached iron tool grinding workshop, repurposed for museum use by Fondazione Civiltà Bresciana since the mid-1980s. Granted on loan to Fondazione MUSIL, the spaces now host a historical reconstruction in dialogue with the present: from the operation of grinding wheels to the various ironworking cycles, from the origins of industrial Brescia to hydraulic wheels, the exhibit alternates artifacts  and old photographs with models and videos of contemporary landscapes, technologies, and voices.

On the day of the museum's reopening, at 5:00 PM, the concert "Working Man Blues. Labor in American Music of the Short Century" is scheduled.

Workers, housewives, miners, shop assistants, soldiers, truck drivers, nurses... the characteristic figures of the American working class, almost completely absent from the poetics of rock music, instead populate the lyrics of some of the most popular genres of American popular music, particularly country music, blues and soul, and 1950s rock'n'roll.
The concert-lecture offers a commented selection of songs, from the 1930s to the 1990s, that tell the story of the American world of work.

Hoes and food: an exhibition that connects tools produced in Valle Camonica, adapted to the diversity of places, with a selected regional agricultural product proposed by the local Slow Food Presidia. For a year, the project will unite Italy with Valle Camonica through thematic menus from participating restaurants, which will offer the same products presented in the exhibition in their recipes.

On one hand, a humble tool that speaks of earth and toil, rooted in millennial metallurgical knowledge.
On the other, the fruits of this earthly technique: natural raw materials that, thanks to culinary expertise, become delicious to eat.
A binomial as plural as it is surprising: we are accustomed to the proverbial variety of customs and foods, but we are less prepared for the extreme diversity of ways in which the earth can be tilled.
Thanks to Officina Fabre, it will be possible to learn about the physical and aesthetic properties of hoes, understanding their regional variations and continuing the discovery

Cedegolo is one of the places with the most intense hydroelectric identity, with the 1910 SEB and Poglia power plants and the 1950 Edison plant, close and overlooking the Oglio river which collects their turbinated waters, while a little further downstream, dating from 1973, stands the San Fiorano generation and pumping plant. In the immediate surroundings, other power plants and dams strongly characterize the landscape. 

In the former SEB power plant, which has become the Valle Camonica Hydroelectric Energy Museum and a hub of musil - 'Eugenio Battisti' Museum of Industry and Labour in Brescia, the exhibition Hydroelectric Architectures in Valle Camonica and Valchiavenna opens on April 8, 2025, presenting 25 photographs by Václav Šedý, a Prague-based photographer known for exhibitions, books, and architectural reportages. 

His precise black and white images allow for a discreet entry into the panorama of the power plants, highlighting, through synthesis, their relationship with the landscape and their architectural evolution. From the first to the second post-war period, in fact, their typology and size changed significantly, as the large historicist 'cathedrals' or 'palaces' gave way to small buildings with a simple and sometimes austere appearance. Sedy's photographs allow one to grasp the impact of the different volumes within once natural places and suggest reflections on the evolution of industrial architecture in mountain environments sensitive to transformations.

Comprising specially taken shots, in addition to the buildings in Cedegolo, the section dedicated to Valle Camonica includes photographs of early 20th-century power plants in Temù, Sonico, and Isola. And, by putting the Edison plant in dialogue with a selection of buildings constructed in Valchiavenna in the early 1950s, it allows one to grasp Gio Ponti's clear design lesson.

Included in the activities of the 'all’insù' Architecture Festival 2025, organized by the Mountain Community of Valle Camonica and supported within the third edition of the Architecture Festival promoted by the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, the exhibition will remain open until November 30 according to the Museum's opening hours: Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, daily in August. 

Václav Šedý was born in the Czech Republic. After studying at FAMU Film and TV Academy, he obtained his doctorate at the Czech Technical University in Prague. In the early eighties, he moved to Italy, where he still lives and works. Formerly a diplomat and director of the Czech Cultural Centre in Milan, he has published in architectural magazines Domus, Abitare, AU, Casabella, ArchAlp, Casa Vogue. He has worked for publishing houses Marsilio, Skira, Electa, Motta, Flammarion, and Phaidon. He has collaborated with the Kunsthistorisches Institut Max-Planck-Institut, the Michelucci Foundation in Florence, the Creval Foundation in Sondrio, the Palladio Museum in Vicenza, and the Gherdëina Museum in South Tyrol. He is the author of numerous images for volumes dedicated to architecture. He currently dedicates himself to Alpine architecture and theoretical studies of the photographic representation of architecture.

Looking upwards is how mountain people broaden their horizons. A horizon made of vertical spaces that, to be experienced, demand consolidated techniques and skills, but also visions and innovation capabilities, which the Upward Festival aims to explore.
The initiative stems from the multi-year experience of Vione permanent laboratory, a culturally-based regeneration project located in Vione, a small town in upper Valle Camonica which, by rediscovering the value of its historical building heritage, has identified a factor on which to act to reactivate a community revival.
The Upward Festival is an initiative of the Mountain Community of Valle Camonica, to explore contemporary architecture in “inner areas” or “high lands” – or, more simply: in the mountains – with particular attention to small-scale interventions. It is one of ten projects supported by Architecture Festival - Edition 3, promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture.
