On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 9:00 PM, at the Iron Museum of San Bartolomeo (via del Manestro n.107 in Brescia), "Just Have the Umbrella. Songs and Stories, Lights and Shadows of Boom-Era Milan" will take place, featuring Enea Barzaghi – piano and voice, Elio Biffi – accordion and voice, Michele Dal Lago – guitar and voice.
The show is a journey through the musical and cabaret scene of Milan during the economic boom and its immediate reflections. It doesn't just re-evoke the most famous songs of the era but explores their dual narrative heart, the two faces of the boom: on one side, the euphoria of well-being and modernity; on the other, the stories of those who watched that boom from the outside, remaining excluded. The repertoire thus becomes a narrative of human events, of the hopes and disillusionments of an era in tumultuous transformation. The concert highlights the popular origins of these expressive forms, rooted in tavern singing and dialectal tradition, while also showing their fertile osmosis with “high” culture. That cabaret and those songs dialogued with the art, literature, and theater of the time, in a continuous exchange where popular culture and high culture influenced and enriched each other. “Just Have the Umbrella” is not a simple re-visitation: it's a show that tells the story of Milan's miracle and its shadows, through the music and words of those who lived it, demonstrating the extraordinary vitality of a heritage born from the encounter between the tavern and the intellectual salon.
The initiative is part of the "Regional Week of Lombard Music and Lombards" and is organized with the contribution of Regione Lombardia.
