Carlo Emilio Gadda: An Engineer in Valle Camonica

The MUSIL (Brescia Museum of Industry and Labour) is pleased to announce two days of in-depth study dedicated to the figure of Carlo Emilio Gadda, intellectual and engineer. The events will focus on his connection with the Valle Camonica and his polytechnic education, and will be held on October 2 and 3 at the Valle Camonica Hydroelectric Energy Museum.

The first evening, titled “Gadda in Valle Camonica”, will take place on Friday, October 2, at 8:30 PM. The program includes institutional greetings, followed by an introduction by Giancarlo Maculotti of Circolo Ghislandi and a presentation by Prof. Pierangelo Ferrari.

On Saturday, October 3, starting at 9:30 AM, it will be the turn of the conference “Gadda the Engineer”, an opportunity to delve into Carlo Emilio Gadda's polytechnic education and engineering work. The conference will begin with institutional greetings and an introduction by René Capovin (MUSIL Brescia).

  • Andrea Silvestri (Politecnico di Milano): «Gadda and hydroelectricity»

  • Marino Ruzzenenti (Micheletti Foundation): «Ammonia, pillar of modernity»

  • Paolo Olivieri (former Montedison executive): «Gadda's collaboration with Ammonia Casale»

 

The afternoon session, starting at 2:30 PM, will continue with other important presentations:

  • Giuseppe Episcopo (UniRoma 3): «A newspaper to imagine Italy. “The Homeland of Italians” in Gadda's workshop of Italian Wonders»

  • Giovanni Genna (Unipegaso): «Gadda and “The Civilization of Machines”»

  • Luca Mazzocchi (University of Bologna): «“«The Engineer of Fantasy». Gadda the engineer in his correspondence”»

For engineers, registration is required for the recognition of CFP (Professional Training Credits), seminar category, valid for full participation in the event. Registrations for engineers must be made through the website of the Order of Engineers of Brescia.
