The MUSIL - San Bartolomeo Iron Museum is pleased to announce the event "American Scribblers 1 | Flannery O’Connor" and the initiative "Escape room at the museum", scheduled for Friday, September 18 and Saturday, September 19, 2026.
In the year of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America, MUSIL offers a fascinating journey into 20th-century American narrative, exploring the voices of the "scribblers" who best captured the spirit of a certain America.
On Friday, September 18 at 9:00 PM, the "American Scribblers" event will present a reading aloud meeting live music. The protagonist of the readings will be Debora Zuin, an actress who will lend her voice and interpretation to three great authors of American literature. Accompanying her, Michele Dal Lago with guitar and voice, intertwining American musical pieces contemporary to the stories with the narration, creating a continuous dialogue between page and song and giving the audience the sonic atmosphere of the time in which the stories were born.
The first of the three "American Scribblers" events is dedicated to Flannery O’Connor, with particular attention to the story A Good Man Is Hard to Find. A journey into the American South of the Fifties, between sharp irony and moral tension, accompanied by roots, blues, and gospel sounds.
In parallel, the museum will host an innovative literary-themed escape room. On Friday, September 18 at 6:00 PM and Saturday, September 19 at 11:00 AM, the museum rooms will be transformed to offer a playful and interactive immersion into the great history of American literature. The activity is curated by Anna Paladin and Andrea Ruzzenenti (Abibook Cooperativa Sociale onlus).
Debora Zuin is an actress who graduated from the Piccolo Teatro di Milano school directed by G. Strehler, with an extensive curriculum that includes collaborations with directors such as Marco Baliani, Alfredo Arias, Peter Stein, and Federico Tiezzi. Her artistic journey has been recognized with awards such as the Parolegesto Imola Critics' Prize, the Virginia Reiter Prize, and the Eleonora Duse Prize – Emerging Actress. Michele Dal Lago is a researcher and trainer in the social sciences, has worked for years on the social history of American music, and is a bluegrass guitarist and singer.
